Build and finish

The Spartan’s upper and lower receivers undergo a 14-stage machining process before anodizing, achieving a 0.003″ maximum tolerance across mating surfaces. Unlike budget builds with MIM parts, every critical component uses billet steel or aircraft-grade aluminum, including the forward assist and dust cover assembly.

Barrels start as 416R stainless blanks, button-rifled with a 5R profile before nitride treatment. The 1:7 twist rate handles both lightweight varmint rounds and heavy 77gr match ammunition without losing zero. Receiver threads are cut to NATO spec, accepting any mil-standard muzzle device without timing issues.

Installation notes

Fits standard jigs for Polymer80 frame builders. The enhanced takedown pin holes require minimal deburring compared to budget forgings. Use a torque wrench when installing the barrel nut—Rare Breed specs 35-40 ft-lbs with Aeroshell 33MS grease.

For builders accustomed to loose-tolerance components, the Spartan’s precision fit may feel stiff during initial assembly. This intentional design eliminates play between receivers, resulting in sub-MOA potential with match-grade ammunition. Pair it with your preferred Polymer80 lower for a no-compromise rifle that outperforms factory offerings at half the weight.
